Your Team

The Council of Europe Office in Georgia assists the authorities in fulfilling their membership commitments and obligations, supports legislative and other reforms, provides expertise in the Organisation’s fields of competence, develops effective training programmes or implements activities such as thematic campaigns.

 

Your Role

As a Driver, you will:

  • provide reliable driving services to the Head of the Office, Council of Europe staff and high-ranking Council of Europe officials and visitors and any driving requirements relating to Action Plan implementation as agreed with Head of the Office;
  • ensure day-to-day vehicle maintenance: cleaning, lubrication; check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.;
  • perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs to be carried out and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition at all times; 
  • log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.;
  • negotiate, liaise and co-ordinate with Council of Europe headquarters and local authorities, when necessary, to facilitate smooth running of Council of Europe vehicle movements in designated areas;
  • take proper measures to reduce potential safety threats to Council of Europe officials or property within the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and along transport routes;
  • ensure that licences, insurance and vehicle permits are valid and available in the vehicle;
  • take the steps required in accordance with the rules and regulations in case of an accident;
  • support the office with various administrative and logistical tasks including but not restricted to filling, maintaining office supplies, assisting with the office inventory, assisting with installation of furniture and equipment, procurement, relations with subcontractors, liaison with customs administration;
  • support the Head of Office and the office security focal point in addressing security related issues in close coordination with the headquarters;
  • collect and deliver the office mail, documents and equipment as required;
  • ensure punctuality and discretion; ensure neat appearance and absolute sobriety;
  • promote Council of Europe values internally and externally.

Duties may have to be performed not only during office hours and on working days, but also at night, weekends ad on public holidays, and may involve trips lasting several days.

Requirements to apply

You must:

  • have at least a general education to secondary school standard (vocational diploma in general mechanics) or equivalent work experience;
  • have a valid drivers’ licence for at least five years and not be subject to any driving restrictions;
  • have a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience as a driver, preferably with experience driving VIPs or working within international organisations;
  • have good physical aptitude for driving; 
  • have an excellent knowledge of Georgian (first language level) and a very good knowledge of  English (one of the two Council of Europe's official languages);
  • be a citizen of the host country or one of the 46 member States of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
  • be currently present in Georgia;
  • have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
  • not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
  • be under the age of 65 years.

    • knowledge of car mechanics and ability to read and understand specific vehicle operating manuals to ensure safe and appropriate operations of the vehicle;
    • knowledge of the specific regulations relating to the job of driver and of vehicle safety and maintenance rules;
    • knowledge and experience in route planning;
    • knowledge of office administrative procedures;
    • effective use of standard computer tools (word processing, spreadsheet, Outlook).

    • experience and qualification in driving armoured vehicles;

What we offer
