Within the Directorate General of Democracy and Human Dignity, the Residential and Conference Services of the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg (EYCS) welcome participants invited to activities organised by the youth sector, by Council of Europe bodies linked to the youth sector, and by international governmental and non-governmental youth organisations. They manage customer relations 24/7 and support guests with all their needs regarding accommodation, conferences and security.
As a night and weekend receptionist within the EYCS reception team, you will:
- welcome and support young participants in Youth Department activities and guests at a Council of Europe international residential and conference centre throughout their stay, assisting them with day-to-day queries, travel arrangements, etc.;
- carry out administrative and logistical tasks related to welcoming participants, such as entering data into the hotel management system, drawing up occupancy lists and preparing badges;
- assist the day reception team with the preparation of hotel files and record-keeping, as well as with the distribution and filing of documents;
- ensure the safety and security of the building and its occupants in a proactive manner (regular patrols, access control) and a reactive manner (in the event of alarms, evacuations or injuries);
- manage individual invoicing and collections.
This is a shift-based role, covering evenings/nights (2 to 3 days a week) and weekends (day or night shifts – alternating every other weekend). The current working hours are as follows:
- Monday to Friday (including public holidays) from 5.30 pm to 7.30 am;
- at weekends (including public holidays) from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm or from 7.30 pm to 7.30 am.
You must:
- have a secondary school qualification leading to a diploma in hospitality, accompanied by at least 18 months’ professional experience in a reception role in a hotel establishment; OR alternatively provide evidence of at least three years’ professional experience in reception or group supervision roles, preferably in a hotel or equivalent establishment;
- have a very good command of English, both written and spoken, and a good knowledge of French.
You must also:
- be a citizen of one of the member states of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
- have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
- not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
- not have been appointed previously to a job falling under the Turnover Workforce Scheme.

- ability to use conference room equipment: audio/video and projection systems, as well as dedicated software (e.g. Teams, Zoom…);
- training in fire safety and first aid.
