Your Team

The Council of Europe Office in Tirana assists the authorities in fulfilling their membership commitments and obligations, supports legislative and other reforms, provides expertise in the Organisation’s fields of competence, develops effective training programmes or implements activities such as thematic campaigns.

You will be part of the team implementing the Project "Enhancing Public Sector Resilience against Corruption" within the Council of Europe’s Economic Crime and Cooperation Division. The Project team will be composed of a Project Assistant, a Project Linguistic Assisstant and a Senior Project Officer situated in the Council of Europe office in Tirana. A Project Manager will be supervising project implementation at the Council of Europe’s headquarters in Strasbourg.

Your Role

As a Project Linguistic Assistant, you will:

  • provide linguistic assistance, including consecutive interpretation during meetings, translation, proofreading, and editing of project documents in English and Albanian;
  • provide logistical and administrative assistance, including the preparation of financial documents, assistance to the project team in the planning, organisation and follow-up of the project activities, in accordance with the project workplan and calendar of activities and in co-operation with local and international partners and stakeholders;
  • make practical arrangements related to project activities (travel, visa requests, accommodation and meeting venue bookings, local transport arrangements, interpretation, etc.);
  • draft and format correspondence, memos, relevant project documents, contract letters and financial arrangements in line with instructions and relevant procedures;
  • organise and keep project documents and files up to date (activity planning, official reports, expertise and other documents, outgoing and incoming correspondence, contact lists);
  • coordinate the project’s visibility and communication activities, including regular updates of website and dissemination of visibility materials;
  • ensure the circulation of pertinent information and documents among the project team and the Office;
  • report to the supervisor on activities in progress and inform them of any problems encountered;
  • carry out other tasks as required connected to the efficient project implementation;
  • promote Council of Europe values internally and externally. 
Requirements to apply

You must:

  • hold a completed full course of general secondary education and appropriate professional qualifications; 
  • have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in carrying out linguistic and administrative duties in the field of international or European co-operation projects;
  • have an excellent knowledge of Albanian (first language level) and a very good knowledge (at least C1 level) of English (one of the Council of Europe's two official languages);
  • be a citizen of the host country or one of the 46 member States of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
  • be present in Albania;
  • have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
  • not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
  • be under the age of 65 years.

What we offer
