Your Team

The role of the Interpretation, Travel, Events and Multimedia Service is to support the Organisation's operational activities through the provision of a one-stop shop for all services relating to the organisation of all types of events involving participants. The team you will be part of provides audiovisual services for social, socio-cultural and ceremonial events at the Headquarters, assists organisers with electronic voting for events and produces, in partnership with the communication units of the operational departments, the Organisation's audiovisual productions.


Your Role

As a Web Conferencing Technician, you will:

  • depending on the nature of the event, ensuring interoperability between conference and simultaneous interpretation systems in conference rooms and web conferencing platforms;
  • supporting remote users and those on site (active participants and/or interpreters) in configuring and setting up their digital platforms for meetings;
  • ensuring that meetings and conferences to which you have been assigned by the Multimedia planning unit run smoothly for remote users and those on site;
  • working closely with the other members of the team and external service providers to ensure event planning time frames are adhered to;
  • keeping abreast of developments in audiovisual collaboration and multimedia tools (technology watch).

You will also carry out the following specific activities:

  • configuring meeting platforms compatible with conference and meeting rooms, such as Microsoft Teams, ZOOM and, more specifically, the KUDO remote interpretation platform, and being reponsible for operating them;
  • working with other Council of Europe secretariat members to assign user permissions for participating, voting and uploading documents;
  • being responsible for running and maintaining all audiovisual, conference and simultaneous interpretation facilities at headquarters;
  • being responsible for running the DANTE network for exporting audio conference recordings;
  • displaying media at events;
  • carrying out basic administrative tasks such as writing reports on operations or making additions to databases.

You will be required to work outside office hours, at weekends and on public holidays.

Requirements to apply

You must:

  • have appropriate professional qualifications in the audio-visual and/or information technology fields, backed up by extensive experience in using and operating online platforms (such as KUDO or web conferencing platforms);
  • have knowledge of the audio-visual and multimedia sector;
  • have at least one year’s relevant professional experience in similar positions;
  • have a very good knowledge of one of the Council of Europe’s official languages (English or French) and basic knowledge of the other (English or French);
  • be a citizen of one of the member States of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
  • have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
  • not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
  • be under the age of 65 years.

    • good ability to handle urgent matters and to deal with pressure and stress.
